Nice work
@Happygoluckyguy4007 thanks man
Nice! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Thanks for watching! 😊
That beta does not fight with the other fish
Nice little tank. It's good to see you back. I haven't uploaded any fish videos in years and last year I gave away my 55 gal tank due to moving to a new temporary place. Wishing you all the best 😊
After 8yrs this is the best and most comprehensive hard water aquarium video I've ever seen. Never thought about keeping some african cichlids in a planted tank!
@Ceretrea Hey, thanks. Yes, some cichlids with plants can create an interesting setup!
Beautiful tank with great plant variety
Thanks!
Thank you for the information! What is that light, and ehat did it cost? Im considering buying a Twinstar C450 for my 20inch, 10 gallon aquarium, and return these feit electric griw lights I bought.
It was an Aquatic Life Halo. I'm not sure if they are still around. The Twinstar will be better for growth. You're welcome
Is it safe for fish and plants?
It seems durable, unlike magic erasers.
Does it require100 PAR for mosses??
No, that's really high lighting. 50-70 PAR is all most hobbyists need
Are/Were the fish grown up?
Yes, they stay small when fully grown
@@ADUAquascaping Thank you! 😀 So, the tank is big enough.🙂 And it looks really beautiful! Well done!😊
@berryberry2308 Hey, thanks! It wasn't too large: 20 gallons / 76 liter The Ember Tetras just enjoy a lot of shadows. This is one reason why they were displaying such great coloration.
You dont need CO2 for any of this.
@@eccentricsmithy2746 I think you mean pressurized CO2, and that is only partially true. This channel is about optimization. CO2 enhances growth and morphology. It works synergistically with light. When you have more CO2, then the plants don't need to spend as much energy on photosynthesizing. It's more nuanced than just making blanket statements, such as you don't need CO2 for any of this. All plants need CO2, and some tributaries naturally have 25 ppm of available CO2. Plants do not even start utilizing bicarbonate as their carbon source until they reach the compensation point, which is at a 9 pH. These would be hard water plants, such as those found in the African rift lakes. Most plants are not from 9 pH areas and need CO2 in the available form, such as carbonic acid or gaseous CO2. All aquariums will have 4 ppm atmospheric CO2 from partial pressure. I have created many successful low-tech setups without the use of pressurized CO2, so I am well aware of how this is possible. However, pressurized CO2 always enhances growth and improves photosynthesis, including plant coloration and pigmentation. Improved photosynthesis makes plants more resilient to trimmings and can utilize more of the available light, which makes them grow more compact. All mosses, for example, grow more compact under pressurized CO2. You can believe otherwise, but plenty of examples will disprove your notion.
One question, i just setup a simple plant tank mean for shrimp. I only planted fern plant in aqua soil. The moss is float. I heard literally you don't need to dose plant liquid fertilizer if you not using CO2? Or I need to wait after one week or so than dose a bit liquid plant fertilizer? As I know moss get nutrients from the water.
If it is a very simple aquascape using aquasoil, then you don't necessarily need to dose liquid fertilizers. The new soil has enough nutrients. And in the future, you can always add root tabs to the aquasoil
I have really hard water too and my neons did just fine. However I'd like to have embers or green kubotai's but I'm afraid they won't adapt well and their colors would fade. I had Celestichthys Choprae once and they were gorgeous when they arrived, but lost their colors in one day and never recovered
You will want to dilute your tap water with RO water from a home system or purchasing at the grocery store. Have fun!
My Embers colored up once I added a lot of overhanging branches and created shadows
@ADUAquascaping ok good to know. I'm definitely going to have amazon frogbit and the lighting is fully adjustable on the tank I'm getting. It's a 32g fluval flex so I think I could have a good sized group of them. 18 to 20 of them I'm thinking
@FishRfun wow, sounds like a lot of fun 😁
dude i just found your channel, are you still making videos?
Possibly. I may start back up once I get a bigger aquarium!
Thanks for watching
@@ADUAquascaping awesome, i just bought java moss. and i think the guy who sold it to me online sold it in underwater mode, because i planted it above water, and its barely growing. i also watched this video, and am going to buy a grow light.
@@muffineateromnomnomnom nice! That already sounds like a nice project. You can have some in the water and outside of the water! Sounds sweet!
@@ADUAquascaping yeah i want to transfer it to an aquarium, but im also broke, so i was like "dude, i can sell this stuff", but i think the guy who sold it to me knew what he was doing (or i suck), because its all dying. thats not entirely true, i put some immediately in the water, when i received it from the seller, and that is the only stuff that was growing right away, and has continued growing. but i only have ceiling lights, so my guess is thats why its not doing so hot.
Do you by chance know the common or scientific name that small sword plant in the left corner of your tank is called?
Dwarf Xingu sword. Echinodorus xinguensis. It is fairly delicate in my current setup. It has been taken over by pearl weed but still alive. It would probably do a bit better with more light and nutrients. It faded a bit as the soil became depleted even with adding root tabs
@ADUAquascaping thanks a million!
What size is this tank?
It is a 4.2 gallon, but the actual displaced water volume is about 2.2 gallons
Right now, I just have one Emerald eye rasbora, one Amano shrimp, one black Nerite snail, and then a bunch of Ramshorn snails
Hey didn’t realize you were back posting. Good to see you on here
Here and there 😂. Thanks Cam, how are your tanks doing? Which kind of setups do you have right now?
Get embers there more suited to a tank like that, or micro chilli red rasbora
I have 3 Emerald Eye Rasboras right now that seem to be doing well and 2 Amano shrimp with a bunch of snails
Great informative video. A lot was said that others don't include.
Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I hope that it helps you with your trimming techniques
are you using super glue under water
Yeah, it works really well, but it's easier to just remove some water first, if possible. You just have to act fast if you do it under water and use the gel type super glue
It gives off a little ammonia as it cures, so nothing too crazy. The plants will just use it to some degree, and the rest will gas-off
Thanks never seen it used submerged
I use low light and high co2+ nutrient. Free algea and low working.
That sounds like a very good method! I like it! Well done, man, and thanks for watching
hope you comeback, i havent seen your videos for a long time. your skill is very good, i learn from you for all my moss tank and after some tanks i think use low light with high co2 and EI nutrient is the best for all plant. you can see ada skylight or ada solar, they are very weak in par reading, they use much green light in setting (they use rgb led ) for high lumen but low par so their tank dont have algea and many tank success with that light but the secrects is very simple. sorry about my bad English, i dont use English in my country.
that does make sense, and thanks for the compliment. I may start again once I get a larger aquarium!
That looks to good to be true! 🔥 FR!
Thanks!
That's what I'm doing wrong, I haven't aquascaped in the nude. 😂
hahaha! See what I am saying!!! haha. It is great therapy, too
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAA. YOU ARE A GOLDFISH HANDLER. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA
The tank burst out because you removed the rim. You said that in the 1st video & lo and behold it happened.
No, that isn't what happened. A rim on a 10 gallon doesn't add much structural support, if at all. The silicone is enough force to keep a tank together. The rim on a 10 gallon is just to protect the corners and the person from being cut by glass. This is why and how rimless aquariums can exist because the silicone is doing the work. What happened is that my dad was bumping around in the night and knocked the aquarium off of the small table that it was sitting on. I just didn't want to embarrass him or say that in the video! Haha
A rim on a 40-gallon breeder definitely adds structural support
@@ADUAquascaping yeah in that case not even a rim could do anything. I removed braces from my 15g but then I watch a video of tank breaking because the owner removed the rim. I silicone back my braces, I dont want to risk it. This is where I came from.
I've been battling diatoms for months and they keep coming back. Aesthetically I have no problem with diatoms. The problem is diatoms cover the leaves of the plants and they suffocate them slowly killing the plants. Removing diatoms that cover the leaves is so frustrating.
It could be if you have hard water with silicon in your water or maybe even disruptions in your microbial balance and cycle. Oto catfish do a great job of eating it!
I used to think the higher silicon was a myth, but it may be true. And so can the microbial imbalance. It could be both or one or the other
He’s back! Long time fan! Glad to see your back!
Thanks, man. I am somewhat back, haha. I upload when I get an idea
does it self-attach easily?
It does until it starts to get thicker. Then, some areas can become detached. This takes a long time to occur, so it's not a big issue until 9-12 months after planting, and only if it gets super thick
I sourced a few portions of this plant and fastened it with some small elastic bands to wood in hopes it would aatch itself to it soon. I find that Süsswassertang atatches readily to hard scape. @@ADUAquascaping
That should work well. Mini pellia does attach fairly well! Sounds like it will be a cool setup! Both are attractive plants
A few years ago I had a tank like this, but not as impressive as this one. It was pearling heavily sometimes without CO2 injection, just like it did with CO2 injection, usually straight after a water change or if I dosed liquid ferts. I was told I had ‘magic water’. Seems you have magic water as well, lol. Seeing your tank now makes me realise it was not my water. Thanks for showing us. When you see it with your own eyes you realise it is real. My CO2 system failed and after a few weeks I realised I did not need it. Never used CO2 again. It is gathering dust in my closet.
Oh, man. I totally get that. I would still like to use CO2 on a larger scape, but yeah, it's really not needed on small tanks. It is exciting to see pearling in a low-tech setup. I find the lighting also helps as well as the water. Thanks for watching!
@@ADUAquascaping interesting channel. I almost never see pearling now as all my tanks are lowtech, but I still manage to grow healthy plants, slowly. I like the slower pace.
Yeah, me too. Slow, but healthy. Usually, if you increase your light and soften your water, then you can see more pearling in low-tech, but it's not necessary for sustained, healthy growth. Thanks for watching. I will have a new video out soon.
Do sae fish eat plants? fisiden fontanus and flama mos
Yes, they do eat Java moss. They didn't eat the Fissidens moss. They may eat flame moss and peacock moss. They seem to really enjoy java moss.
Hey Dave , I have been trying to figure something out with my setup that hasn't been set up yet due to a few concerns that I have been searching for the answer before I have any regrets from damaging my regulator. So I have been trying to get my UNS mini hooked up to a 24oz. paintball cylinder. The setup video from UNS has a UNS Paintball cylinder that has the dial to open and close. The Tippmann cylinder that I have does not, so I have been trying to hook up the two without damaging the regulator from the PRESSURE. I hope I explained the potential to my fears of doing something that has my brand new reg ruined . The funny thing is that I had no fears when I attempted the first time but since I forgot to put the o-ring in the adapter I got my first " burst " of the power of pressurized CO2 😲 ....that has been corrected and I bought a whole 10 to replace if and when I have an empty cylinder , but I have been reading of so many people who have a full tank and life is great and it's not so the next morning or whenever their CO2 escaped . So those are what's holding my hair as I'm puking in the toilet of the paintball blues , not to mention that prior to the everything I had been using the reg with a 95 gram Fluval canister for a few months and it's amazing the results etc. But now 2 weeks with not a drop.😿
Hi, can you purchase the same pressure valve UNS uses on their paintball cylinder and hook it up to the paintball cylinder you are using? Or can you purchase a pressure valve for paintball cylinders in general? I am not familiar with using paintball cylinders. Another option is to open the mini regulator valve and needle valve all the way as you connect the regulator to the cylinder. And make sure to tighten the regulator really well to the cylinder. Then, adjust the working pressure (30-40 psi) valve in the cylinder, and then adjust the needle valve as needed. I am sure this will be loud and you will lose some CO2 as you are tightening the regulator to the cylinder. I would first try and find a pressure valve adapter for the paintball cylinder. Similar to the one UNS is using. They are obviously using it for a reason. You may find it on Alibaba, Amazon, or Ebay. I hope this helps. I am not familiar with paintball cylinders and mini regulators, so I am not sure if the mini regulator can withstand direct pressure from the cylinder or not.
You lost me after the ringing bowl.I was waiting for incense and a sacred cow.
Hahaha
My favorite you tube channel now
I am glad you like it. And I am glad you are enjoying the hobby. I will have to upload a new video soon. I am not as involved in the hobby right now because I lost focus
I'm doing aquascape for 1 year and I must say this is the best advice I got, aquascape is about plant growth and not design , the true philosophy of aquascaping is dying its no more about fish nature but design
Thanks. Yes, it can be more about the design than healthy plants nowadays. It's becoming a made for photography hobby
Can you grow red plants in hard water? Like ludwigia, rotala
Rotala rotundifolia may work or Ludwigia triple red or repens. Hard water just makes it more difficult for a lot of plants to use nutrients, so you will have better luck if you use a soil substrate and dose potassium in hard water environments. A lot of plants can acclimate to hard water over time, say 6-12 months.
sorry for you loss man. My father also got me into it. All the best with processing. And just to let you know I love your video's, been watching you for a long long time. All the best from the Netherlands.

Hey, thanks! It's pretty easy to grow!
Saying "ChatGPT agrees with me" is a horrible argument. ChatGPT has been shown repeatedly to make up answers. It's generating answers that sound like a human. It doesn't guarantee truth or accuracy. If you don't believe me, ask it about a topic you KNOW about and you'll see just how easy it is to get an inaccurate answer. Or, search UA-cam for people that demonstrate it by showing you their queries and the responses.
OK, many other people also agree with my sentiments and conclusions. It doesn't give me direct answers. I have to probe and debate with it in order to gain clarity on a topic. These are moralistic insights, so we can find just as many studies that agree as we can that disagree. I argue with it all the time. I know how biased and inaccurate it can be. I correct and educate it often, haha. I am convincing it, not the other way around. It eventually agrees with me, not I agree with it. If it weakens my arguments, then I won't make an appeal to the AI. I will just assume authority 😉 😜
It's extremely biased towards woke sentiments, to say the least, so I am always getting it to eventually contradict itself. It's preprogrammed to be left of center. I am a "don't throw the baby out with the bath water" type of person because we really aren't more intelligent than the wisdom of our ancestors. That being said, I am open-minded and will consider new concepts. Refinement, integrity, morals, beauty, perseverance, charity, responsibility, and optimization matter, in my opinion. I am biased towards Japanese and Germanic cultures. In my opinion, they are better in many ways.
Hey Dave! Doubt you'll remember, but I left a comment about how you inspired me to go back to school a while back on your old vids. Happy to say I'm almost done with my bachelors! Hoping I finally get some time to get back in the hobby. Thanks for uploading, always value your insights.
Yeah, I remember. Congratulations! It always feels great to accomplish such a significant goal! 🙌. I am glad you are doing well. Man, I wish I could be more involved in the hobby, too. We will get back in eventually. It's in our blood haha
hi Dave ,,,,,,finally I am able to complete going over the full video . congrats on ur sister's marriage and extremly srry to hear about your dad .... he'll always be remembered & lived by you. Please take ur time to cope up...... healing takes time. We'll wait till Feb 24 and truly speaking youtube is something we do out of love towards hobby. So ur subscribers can wait and as soon as u post content on a regular basis they will tune in and your channel will start thriving. I'll love to listen to your views on politics , global affairs and other stuff. I do follow them a bit and agree with your point on recent woke culture & media. I'll give u one quick example , let's compare Winsten Chruchill & Adolph Hitler. At surface level one will identify one as patriot and another as mass murderer . But, do we know that Churchill killed 10 times more ' Bengalis ' than Jews during WW2 by intentionally creating manmade famine. Given a choice I'll rather walk into gas chamber than starve to death. So, here's how history is written and bias is portrayed always in favor of the winning side. None in the world will tell yo Hitlerr & Churchill both are two different sides of same the evil coin.
That's true. We all have to watch out for lies, hate, and even our own resentment and biases. The media does such a great job of creating hate among people. We have to rise above it all! Fear is always there to try and stop our expansion. We must rise above the fear! I want to make the channel more about morals, culture, health, and spirituality. I don't want to be a political jockey or spread more hate. We all have a dark side, but there is already enough hate in the world that I don't need to spread even more.
I once experienced a state of samadhi after meditating (dharana and dhyana). As I am sure you are aware 😉 I was not expecting this or seeking this experience. It just happened. I was totally sober, too. I stopped my mind and fell into pure bliss and laughed, and laughed like a madman. I laughed like I had never laughed before. I literally lost my mind! Haha. I became Buddha 😄. It was my own experience that is very hard to describe, and I feel blessed that this happened to me. The experience was more intense than any psychedelic drug or anything I have ever experienced. It was pure bliss, love, and warmth. This happened on October 9th, 2021. It was very profound.
You're doing great! I'm very sorry for your loss! I'm sure he is so proud of you!! My father has a brain tumor and moved in with me recently. Keep On Keepin' On!
Thanks for your support and encouragement. I hope he is... and I hope you can take care of your dad well, and I wish you two buds the best! I am sure you will do great and learn a lot from this experience
Hang in there man, as always enjoying the content. Looking forward to seeing your future channel on various issues!! Keep it up
